The Airforces' A3 cap was issued to USAAF ground personnel in the early 1940's

The 6-part composition was already very similar to the structure of classic baseball caps.

It was originally issued to mechanics and engineers during World War II. During World War II, used as a work cap for farm mechanics, the flat and wide brim was a feature of the cap that effectively shielded the sun. The simple but functional design of the A-3 cap gained popularity, leading to its use by other parts of the US military.
